A husband has urged people to buy one of the 600 creepy crocheted dolls his wife has knitted – joking that every time he opens the cupboard it’s like he’s being ‘attacked by Chucky.’
Council leader of Chadwell New Town, Rowan Battley, shared a selection of the terrifying dolls to Twitter, alongside a caption which read: ‘My wife Lola will be selling her crocheted dolls in the precinct this Saturday, all proceeds to the drop-in-centre.’
‘For God’s sake buy one, she’s made 600 of the bloody things. They’re all over the house. Every time I open the airing cupboard it’s like being attacked by Chucky.’
And it wasn’t long before the post was inundated with comments by his amused social media followers.
‘I love everything about this Tweet,’ wrote one. ‘The charity, the spousal support, the cheerful acceptance that these things are terrifying craft-abominations. You might want to buy her a candle making book for Valentine’s Day. Or get her a still. Definitely encourage a new hobby.’

Rowan explained how his wife has made over 600 of the terrifying dolls and has left them all around the house (pictured)
Taking to Twitter, Rowan joked: ‘Every time I open the airing cupboard it’s like being attacked by Chucky’
And when another person penned: ‘Jesus imagine having those staring at you all day,’ witty Rowan remarked: ‘I don’t have to imagine, Simon. I’m surrounded by the woollen b*******s day and night.
‘I opened the fridge last night and one was sitting in the salad-crisper.’
The post has since gone viral and received over 177, 000 likes and 30, 000 retweets.
‘I’m going to have nightmares already just seeing this one!’ joked one, while a second commented: ‘They’re class. I would say to my grandkids if you don’t behave your getting one of these.’

The councillor told how his wife has now moved onto creating knitted snails (pictured)
A third added: ‘If we all donate money to the drop in centre, without taking a doll, would she unpick them and turn them into blankets please?’ while a fourth penned:
‘Councillor, I live in the States. I have absolutely nothing to do with your town. I came across this Tweet entirely by accident, and now I have to move to England.’
And when a further person wrote: ‘Please ask your wife to consider selling these dolls online, i think they’d be very popular. I would buy more than one,’ Rowan replied: ‘That is very gracious of you.’
‘She has been amused by everyone’s responses to her crocheted dolls, and has asked me to thank you all – but I will pass on your kind words.
‘Meanwhile, she has moved on to knitted snails. She’s on her 300th. God help us all.’
